The Sanctuary of The Dahlonega Baptist Church

Sonny Seals and George S. Hart founded Historic Rural Churches of Georgia in 2012 to research, document, and ultimately preserve some of the most historic and architecturally significant rural churches in the state.

In the foreword to their book, Historic Rural Churches of Georgia, President Jimmy Carter says “I am proud to be associated with the book and the movement to preserve the historic rural churches of Georgia.” The book presents the stories of forty seven rural churches from all areas of the state, with nearly three hundred color pictures of sanctuaries, grounds and cemeteries.

In 2017, the book won five major book awards including the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Historic Preservation Award and most recently the Art Libraries Society of North America LoPresti Publication Award. Visit their website at www.hrcga.org  to learn more.

Looking forward to seeing you all at this VERY interesting and informative program!
