The Georgia Writers Museum and the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame join in celebrating the distinguished writers of Georgia.  These two organizations honor the lives, accomplishments, and works of Georgia’s writers.  They will have an information table at the 2018 Dahlonega Literary Festival that will be located in the Regional Writers Section located in the Fellowship Hall on the lower floor of the Dahlonega Baptist Church located at 234 Hawkins Street, Dahlonega, Ga.

The Georgia Writers Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Eatonton, Georgia.  It was founded to showcase the three famous local writers, Joel Chandler Harris, Flannery O’Connor, and Alice Walker and its goal is to collaborate with writer’s groups and literary organziations throughtout Georgia to build and promote a center for literary arts in the state’s Historic Heartland.  In addition, the Museum promotes writing workshops, lecture series, and book signing events.

The Georgia Writers Hall of Fame was established in 2000 as part of the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library in Athens, Georgia to honor Georgia writers and to introduce the public to the library’s rich collections for research into Georgia literature and cultural history.  Currently, it honors over sixty Georgia writers with an exhibit.  An annual public ceremony at the University of Georgia’s Richard B. Russell Building Special Collections Libraries celebrates each year’s annual inductees in conjunction with an exhibit of rare books and literary manuscripts.

While attending the 2018 DLF, please stop by the information table for these two wonderful organizations and learn more about them.

Dahlonega Literary Festival

DLF logo square justThe Dahlonega Literary Festival is an annual celebration of books. The next festival will take place March 24-25, 2018. Situated in Historic Downtown Dahlonega, the festival continues to grow and become more and more entertaining as the years go on. We promise it will delight anyone who is a lover of books and reading. All festival events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.

Each year the festival presents a slate of invited authors representing a variety of genres sharing their ideas and experiences in various programs. In addition, a number of regional authors (ranging from local to other areas of the Southeast) have the opportunity to purchase a table to both interact with festival attendees and sell their books.

The Dahlonega Literary Festival is supported by donations and grants from Georgia Humanities, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, and the Georgia Council for the Arts, through funding from the Georgia General Assembly.
